4 pounds – 4 ideas – 4 minutes

Help new local community projects get off the ground
The concept is simple: a suggested donation of £4 on the door (£2 for under 18s) gives you a delicious meal of soup, bread, tea and a vote for your favourite local community project pitched on the night. We want lots of local folk to get involved so if £4 is a bit steep just donate what you can afford, if you are feeling generous you can donate more!
Children are very welcome and if they are old enough to decide which idea they like best then they can have a vote.
Four ideas for improving Settle or the local community will be put forward, each has 4 minutes to pitch to the crowd.

Then we eat together and discuss the ideas and mingle, meet new people and generally have a good time.

Everyone votes for the idea they like best and the winner gets all the money taken on the door to kickstart their project. The people behind the project will then be asked to update us on their progress at future soup meetings as they bring their idea to life.

Many people have asked ‘what if the winner blows their money on drink or drugs or flash cars?’  My answer is.. Settle is a small place so we will all know if someone misuses their winnings. I think this is very unlikely to happen .. but if it does they will never get their project off the ground and not be trusted again!

Plan of the Evening Events

Doors at 6:30pm

Pitches at 7.00pm

Soup at 7:30pm
Winner announced 8.30pm

Help tidying up the hall after will be appreciated

Soup and bread will be cooked on the day by a team of volunteers and many thanks to The Co-operative store in Settle for donations of veg and drinks.
If you want to bring some cake, salad, cheese or anything else to share along with the soup and bread please do.

We do not want any food left afterwards so if the hungry hoardes don’t eat it all on the night you are welcome to take a doggy bag home with you!

If you want to pitch your idea on the night…

It could be a business, free service, solution to a local problem, a workshop or a way of improving your local landscape.  As long as it benefits the local area in some way it will be considered. We pick four of the best ideas submitted, as varied as possible, and invite the proposers along to pitch at our Settle Soup.

If you have an idea just email or call and tell us more about your plans… soup@circusoffood.co.uk or 07977 040329

We hope this will be the first of many Settle Soup events and that the evening also proves a great opportunity to meet lots of people and make new friendships and connections. Settle Soup is inspired by the wildly successful Detroit Soup which has raised over $95,000 over the last 5 years.
